Sinai’s Threads of Tikva Knitting Session
Sunday, August 24, 2025 • 30 Av 5785
10:00 AM - 12:00 PMSocial Hall AAll knitters are invited to join us for a casual Drop-In Knitting Session as part of Sinai’s Threads of Tikva, a meaningful project providing hand-knit beanies for soldiers in the Israeli Defense Force. These black, ribbed, wool watch caps offer essential warmth during cold desert nights and serve as a powerful reminder that they are supported from afar.
Whether you are an experienced knitter, picking up your needles again, or just getting started, you are welcome to bring your project, borrow supplies, or learn from the beginning. Project Chair Alyssa Mandel will be available to provide guidance, refresh your skills, or teach new techniques.
Supplies Needed:
-
Yarn: Black worsted weight washable wool. Cascade Superwash 220 is the recommended brand.
-
Needles: US size 6 and 8, 16-inch circular needles and double-pointed needles. Some will be available to borrow.
-
Pattern and Instructions: These will be provided at the session or can be emailed upon request.
If you are new to knitting, this is a welcoming environment to learn. If you are not able to knit but would like to support the project, you can make a donation to help purchase yarn, needles, or cover shipping costs.
Finished hats can be dropped off in the designated collection box at Temple Sinai. They will be sent to Israel in small batches.
For questions or to get started, please contact Alyssa at therealalyssamandel@gmail.com.
