Loss
LOSS
At Temple Sinai, we understand the difficulty and sensitivity around the subject of death. We provide support to all members of our community during this transition.
When a Death Occurs
In the event of bereavement, Temple Sinai members should call (941) 924-1802 as soon as possible to notify our clergy. During office hours, call to speak Chazzan Abramson. After hours, please call (941) 356-3532. We will help you figure out your next steps. We are here to provide comfort, counseling, guidance, and support with funeral, burial, shiva, and other arrangements.
Notifying the Temple Sinai Community
In the event of bereavement, Temple Sinai members should call (941) 924-1802 as soon as possible to notify our clergy. After funeral arrangements have been made and shared with our office, a condolence email is sent to the Sinai community as soon as possible with the information you would like people to receive about the funeral and/or shiva. A mention will also appear in the monthly Tablet Briefs.
Funeral Services
Temple Sinai can recommend some useful resources including funeral homes, cemetery and synagogue directions, bereavement services, Jewish funeral customs, funeral etiquette, as well as practical and spiritual pre-planning materials.
Cemetery Plots
Temple Sinai owns a section of land consecrated as a Jewish cemetery in Palms Memorial Park located at the corner of Honore / Fruitville Roads in Sarasota. Sinai Garden allows for traditional burials as well as burial for those who choose cremation. The Garden provides flexibility with several different ways for family members to be buried in the same area whether or not they all choose burial or cremation.
We encourage our members to make “Pre-Need” arrangements in order to provide “peace of mind” to their families and to relieve them of a financial burden. For questions or to schedule a visit to Sinai Garden, please contact Cemetery Chairman,
Myron Bernstein at: 240.606.7006 .
