Chazzan Abramson and Temple Sinai invite the whole community to our Winter Music Program, featuring four exceptional concerts. We are thrilled to present this series at no cost to members of Temple Sinai and at just $36/performance for non-members. In addition, we want to encourage all participants to consider making a contribution to the The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County 

Sunday, January 8, Venice Symphony Concertmaster Marcus Ratzenboeck

Venice Symphony Concertmaster Marcus Ratzenboeck is a versatile musician who has made a successful career as a   performing and recording artist. Maestro Ratzenboeck is an accomplished violinist in both classical and rock music genres  and has been an active and successful solo, chamber, orchestral, and studio performer for 20 years.

 He has participated in numerous music festivals including Tanglewood, American Institute of Musical Studies (Graz,   Austria), Sarasota Music Festival, Hirosaki Chamber Music Festival (Japan), and he served as concertmaster of Spoleto   (USA) for several seasons. He has an impressive recording and touring career having worked with several major and independent record labels and publishers.

Thursday, February 9, Astralis Chamber Ensemble

 The award-winning musicians of the Astralis Chamber Ensemble; Angela Massey (flute), Kris Marshall (trumpet), and Chee-Hang See (piano); will present a winter program with opera favorites and love stories from classical music.   The husband and wife duo, Angela and Kris, will share stories from romantic works in the opera literature such as Lakmé, The Magic Flute, La Boheme, and more. The program will also include an audience favorite by Andrey Rubtsov written for their engagement. Join us for an unforgettable evening of music with the Astralis Chamber Ensemble.

 Grammy Award winning Baritone Jason Stearns has appeared on many of the greatest opera stages of the world in many   leading roles, including the Metropolitan Opera, Washington Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera and Los Angeles Opera. He has sung   throughout Europe and South America as well in Leading roles including Rigoletto, Scarpia, Count Di Luna and The Flying   Dutchman.

Betsy Hudson Traba has served as Principal Flutist of the Sarasota Orchestra since 1993. Prior to that, she served as Principal Flutist of the Hofer Symphoniker in Hof, Germany. Ms. Traba has been heard frequently as a soloist throughout Florida, including guest artist performances with the La Musica International Chamber Music Festival, Artists Series of Sarasota, EnsembleNEWSRQ, Charlotte Symphony, and in multiple performances with the Sarasota Orchestra. From 2008-2018 she performed every summer at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music in Santa Cruz, CA. Ms. Traba is married to Sarasota Orchestra Principal Bassoonist Fernando Traba.

 

 

 Fernando Traba, Principal Bassoon of the Sarasota Orchestra, is a native of Mexico City, Mexico. Mr. Traba has served as   Principal Bassoon with all major orchestras in Mexico City, as well as the Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias in   Oviedo, Spain, the National Opera Orchestra in Lisbon, Portugal and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería in Mexico City. He   has performed the major bassoon concertos with orchestras in Mexico, Europe and the United States. An avid chamber musician, Mr. Traba is a member of the Sarasota Wind Quintet. He has performed with The Instrumenta (Mexico), Palm   Beach Chamber Music as well as ChamberFest Cleveland Festivals.

 

 Jesse Martins is a conductor, pianist, and vocal coach. For Sarasota Opera’s 2022-2023 Season, Maestro Martins is the   Director of the Studio Artists Program and conductor for the Youth Opera production. Since joining the music staff of   Sarasota Opera in 2011, he has been integrally involved in all aspects of the company’s music-making. He has worked   extensively as a coach in his native Brazil, New Zealand, and now the Sarasota opera and area. He is also a member of the Sarasota Piano Trio.
