Movie: PASSING (Netflix)

Our SMC Film Forum selection for January of 2022 is Passing, a 2021 Netflix original motion picture which received a 91%/92% on Rotten Tomatoes, and which presents an intriguing, complex and thought-provoking tale of race and identity in 1920’s Harlem.  Based on a 1929 novel, it is a multi-layered portrayal of “passing for white” in a manner and context rarely presented – and one which will surely generate a discussion quite different than you might expect. Click here to view the trailer.
