10:00 AM - 12:00 PMWe have been invited to join our friends at Church of the Palms for a special Newtown
Trolley Tour. Join us to learn about the history of Newtown, segregation, and
integration from those who lived it. The tour guide is Vickie Oldham, President and CEO of Sarasota African American
Cultural Coalition and the Director of Newtown Alive.

10:00 AM to noon tour
Check in at 9:45 starts and ends at the Leonard Reid house, 2529 N. Orange Avenue at
the SW corner of Orange and Martin Luther King Blvd.
Cost: $45 per person, All monies go to Newtown Alive towards building a new museum
in Newtown.

Lunch is optional at the nearby Station 400.
This tour takes 25 passengers out to Lido Beach to learn about the wade-ins during the
1950s, and much more about Black history in Sarasota.
The Reid house has two restrooms if needed. Parking is free.
