Volunteer one afternoon a month for All Faiths Food Bank, filling weekend "backpacks" with healthy snacks for families with children in need of food. These 40,000+ children in Sarasota County participate in the reduced cost lunch program at our schools; the "backpack" program fills in for weekend healthy food needs.

For "backpacking," we fill grocery store bags with healthy snacks selected while passing along a table of bins containing them. No lifting is necessary, although some volunteers refill the cartons of snacks as they run out during the shift. Boxes are cut up for recycling (box cutters provided). Each person chooses how they help out. You must wear closed shoes in the warehouse and currently masks are optional. There is a volunteer break room available with water and snacks provided.

Location: All Faiths Food Bank warehouse, 8171 Blaikie Court, Sarasota (take Fruitville East under I-75, turn left using the right jog turn onto Sarasota Center Blvd, turn right onto Blaikie Court).
