This fun and informative summer series is the perfect blend of culture and cocktails! Participants will learn about Jewish culture and community presented by local Sarasota residents who grew up in Mexico and Costa Rica, respectively. The cost is $18/pp per session or $25/pp for the series and includes presentation, cocktails and light bites.

June 11: Ashkenazi Jews are from Mexico??

Flora will share her experience growing up in Mexico City, what the Jewish community was like there and also the little known fact that much of the Jewish community there is of Ashkenazi decent. Most people assume that Jews from Mexico are of Sephardic decent and while that is the case for some, a large percentage of the population are from Eastern Europe.

July 23: How Jews arrived in Costa Rica

Debbie and Dani will talk about how Jews arrived in Costa Rica and their personal experiences growing up there. Sadly, the Jewish community is struggling in Costa Rica, as in many small communities worldwide, as citizens are migrating to other countries for better opportunities.
