Classes

A variety of classes are offered throughout the year that build on and expand Jewish learning and living for adults of all ages. From understanding the prayerbook liturgy with the Chazzan to revisiting the whys and wherefores of Jewish practice, to Jewish cooking, there is always quality Jewish learning going on facilitated by engaging and knowledgeable teachers. Check the temple calendar, monthly Tablet, the weekly SNN for the current schedule or the Current Adult Classes page of the website.

Rabbi's Groups

Learning with Rabbi Huntting is the highlight of the week for many in our community. These are two of the groups he has facilitated for years that continue to have a loyal following:

    Torah Talk

Exploring, analyzing and energetically discussing their way through the Torah, Rabbi Huntting’s weekly Torah Talk class provides a comfortable place for participants to learn about and question our tradition. Through dynamic give and take, the Rabbi invites diverse perspectives and opinions. Anyone is invited to join the group at any time.

    Brown Bag

Open to all who are interested (and often passionate) about local, national and world events, Rabbi Huntting’s weekly lunchtime Brown Bag group is a forum for exploring the Jewish and ethical issues behind the news. Participants come prepared to vigorously debate current events. Challenged to understand today’s events in their broader contexts, the discussions are timely and stimulating. Everyone is welcome.

Adult B’nai Mitzvah

Those interested in learning or refreshing their knowledge of Hebrew and studying with the Chazzan and Rabbi are invited to prepare for an Adult Bat or Bar Mitzvah. The experience develops a unique connection to the temple and clergy as well as a deep pride in what has often been a long-held dream. Contact Chazzan Abramson for details.

Jewish Films

Temple Sinai loves movies! Each year a series of movies with Jewish themes is shown, each one followed by discussion with Rabbi Huntting. Sometimes dinner is included. Many of the movies are foreign which exposes the viewers to Jewish life around the world. We find that, though the themes addressed in the movies may not be so different, the treatment they each receive and how they are resolved can vary widely from country to country. Check the temple calendar, monthly Tablet , the weekly SNN for the current schedule or the Current Adult Classes page of this website.

Parent Workshops

Offered by either The Gan or the Religious School, Parent Workshops address either the universal challenges of parenting, or the particular issues that face Jewish parents – or sometimes both! We want parents to see the temple as a resource where there are people with expertise, experience working with children and Jewish knowledge who can work in partnership with parents to build strong Jewish families.Check the temple calendar, monthly Tablet or weekly SNN for the current schedule.
